Add/Drop for Semester 2 (Spring 2024) is now closed

The Add/Drop period for Semester 2 (Spring 2024) has now closed. Your final course schedule will be available in AUC Portal from Thursday 8 February onwards. If you still have any concerns or questions about your course registration, please write us a message in the AUC Digital Service Desk.

Add/Drop Semester 2 timeline

The idea behind these two periods is to give you a chance to make final changes to your schedule before your new classes begin (Add/Drop 1), including adding any additional courses (beyond 4 for the 16-week period and 1 for the intensive period). There is also a 'normal' Add/Drop during the first week of your new classes (Add/Drop 2) should any necessary changes become apparent. The periods are as followed.

  • Add/Drop 1: from 29 January (08.00) to 2 February 2024 (16.00)

  • Add/Drop 2: from 5 February (08.00) to 7 February 2024 (16.00)

Please note that you will be able to submit prerequisite exception requests from Monday 29 January (08.00) until Wednesday 31 January (16.00).

Add/Drop 1: 29 January - 2 February

Add/Drop 1 will take place from Monday 29 January (08.00) to Friday 2 February 2024 (16.00) in AUC Portal. All requests will be processed and available in Portal by the end of the day on 3 February. Please keep in mind that after you've made your selections, you must actively press the ‘submit button’ before 16.00 on Friday 2 February for your selections to be valid. Please note that once you've pressed submit you will not be able to change your selection.

Add/Drop 2: 5 - 7 February

Add/Drop 2 will take place from Monday 5 February (8.00) to Wednesday 7 February (16.00) in AUC Portal. All requests will be processed and available in Portal by the end of the day on 8 February. Please keep in mind that after you've made your selections, you must actively press the ‘submit button’ before 16.00 on Wednesday 8 February for your selections to be valid.

Are you planning on taking a language course?

If you are considering taking a language course (Contextualizing Spanish: Language and Society: 1, 2, 4, Dutch: A1, A2, B1.1 French: A1), please take note of the following information:

  • If you have no prior knowledge of the language course, you can request to be registered at the 1/A1 level.
  • If you have successfully completed the previous language level at AUC (e.g., 1/A1), you can request to be registered in the next level (2/A2) within the same language, as you have already met the prerequisite.
  • If neither of the above options applies, and you plan to register in a higher-level language course, please submit a prerequisite exception request during the Add/Drop period. You will be conditionally registered for the course. Subsequently, you will be invited to take the LLP (language level placement test) to ensure that the language level you have registered for is appropriate.

Please also keep in mind:

  • You may only add courses for which there are currently seats available.
  • To drop a course, you must also indicate a course you would like to add. You may not drop a course without having added one in the AUC Portal. To drop a course without adding a course, please check the procedure for Course withdrawal.
  • Group changes are not allowed between two groups of the same course. If you request a group change yourself, and the other group is full, the system will automatically drop you from the course.
    • If there are extenuating circumstances where you would need to switch a group (e.g. to facilitate following another course in your schedule), please contact the Registrar via servicedesk@auc.nl or by going to the AUC Digital Service Desk. This will prevent dropping a course without having any alternative.
  • As indicated in the AS&P's, ''upon consultation with their tutor, students may apply for registration to a maximum of two additional courses in any semester through the Add/Drop procedure''. You can make this additional course request (any courses beyond 4 for the 16-week period and 1 for the intensive) via AUC Portal.
  • Please note there is no separate Add/Drop period for the June intensive courses. If you would like to make any changes to your June intensive course, you must do so during one of the periods above.
  • You must actively press the ‘Submit’ button in order for your selections to be valid.
  • Contact the Registrar team via the AUC Digital Service Desk if you have any questions about Add/Drop.
