AUC Graduate Assistant (GA) positions

Each year AUC employs recent graduates for one year to assist with administration and management in multiple roles. The purpose of graduate assistants is to form a link between students and staff while gaining valuable work experience.

    General description
    AUC is looking for a (soon-to-be) graduate of the Class of 2024 to work as S&C Graduate Assistant from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, for an average of 19 hours per week (approx. 2.5 days a week or 0.5 fte). As Graduate Assistant you will take a gap year and be part of AUC’s professional staff where you will have a varied task package in which you will gain professional work experience. You will play an important role in supporting areas of educational development at AUC and bring a first-hand perspective on different topics as outreach, alumni relations, event planning, student housing and promotion.

    What we offer
    You will be employed through the University of Amsterdam on a one-year temporary employment contract. We offer a salary on scale 6, step 2 (= €2618 gross per month for full-time 38 hours, therefore approx. €1309 gross income per month for 19 hours). We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. Permitting space, we could potentially offer housing in the AUC dorms if requested. Combing this role with the RA position is also possible.

    General description
    AUC is looking for a (soon-to-be) graduate of the Class of 2024 to work as Graduate Assistant to the Student Life Officers (GA SLO) from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, for an average of 19 hours per week (approx. 2.5 days a week or 0.5 fte). As Graduate Assistant you will take a gap year and be part of AUC’s professional staff where you will have a varied task package in which you will gain professional work experience. You will play an important role in supporting the SLO team. You will bring a first-hand perspective on different topics such as the lived experience of new and current students, health and well-being on campus, diversity and inclusion, and student life in the broadest sense. The GA SLO will not be expected to provide individual counselling to students, except in the area of residential living. The GA SLO is part of the Well-Being Team, consisting of the SLOs, GA to the SLO, RAs and Peer Supporters.

AUC Resident Assistant (RA) positions

Resident Assistants (RA) are AUC graduates living in the AUC student residences. Trained in general peer-support, first aid and emergency procedures, the RA's have an important role in the welfare and safety of the student community. There are up to four RA positions each year.

    General description
    We are looking for AUC students graduating in 2024 who are interested in joining the Resident Assistants team for the academic year 2024-2025. The starting date for this position is 1 August 2024 and the position is for a minimum of one year. RAs have an important role in welfare, safety and discipline in the residences. You will receive training in your tasks as an RA, including general peer-support training in listening, questioning and responding skills, as well as basic First Aid and what to do in case of an emergency. While you are an RA, you will live in the AUC residences and it is anticipated that you will spend on average 16 hours per week on your RA tasks. You will preferably combine your RA position with being a fully enrolled student, doing an internship or taking a gap year. As soon as you complete your term as an RA, you must move out of the AUC residences when your contract ends.

    What we offer
    In exchange for undertaking the RA tasks, the basic rent of a room in the AUC student residences is covered for you for one year, and you sign an agreement with AUC to this effect.
