All students have an AUC mailbox with a ‘@student.auc.nl’ address through Microsoft 365. You can access Microsoft 365 using your UvAnetID. Additionally, with your VUnet ID, you'll also have a VU email address. Keep an eye on emails that come via both accounts for essential university communications.

UvA / AUC email address

As of July 2020, all AUC students have an AUC mailbox (an "@student.auc.nl" email address) on the Microsoft 365 platform at their disposal. You can log on to Microsoft 365 using your UvAnetID and you will always receive emails from AUC at this AUC email address. As an additional service, the emails you receive in your AUC mailbox are also forwarded to the email address you submitted as your correspondence address in Studielink. If you are happy with this, no further action is required. If you'd like to change this, you can find out how to do so here. For more information on setting up your student email address, please visit the link below.

Two-step verification

Please note that you may also be asked to complete a 'two-step verification' process before accessing your student email. More information on this can be found here

VU email address

You have received separate accounts for both the UvA and the VU. After you completed your university registration, your login details for both accounts were sent to you automatically. For the VU, you received the following:

  • VU student email: (initial of 1st name).(initial of second name if you have one).(last name).(2nd last name if you have one)@student.vu.nl. If you have more than two first names or surnames, add all of them in the same format. You can find your VU email address in your profile and dashboard on the VU website.
  • VUnetID: Made up of 3 letters and 3 numbers. You can find it in the welcome email you received from the Vrije Universiteit when you first enrolled. If you have lost access, contact the AUC Service Desk for help.
  • VU student number: Made up of 7 numbers. If it's not in the same email as the VUnetID, then you can find it once you log into your student account on vu.nl.
  • VU password: If you can't remember this, you can reset it on this website.

If you take courses at the VU, you can synchronise VU schedules with your personal calendar on your phone. Instructions are available via rooster.vu.nl. This allows you to keep track of all your courses across institutions in one place.
