What they do and how to contact them
The Board of Examiners (BoE, Examencommissie) oversees examinations and academic standards at AUC. It is responsible for approving deviations from the study programme, handling requests under the Academic Standards & Procedures (AS&P), and addressing cases of fraud or plagiarism. The BoE is composed of senior members of AUC’s faculty.
You will usually need prior approval from the BoE for any exception to the regular study programme. Requests must be submitted via the Digital AUC Service Desk and include your planning grid (template available on the BoE Canvas page). Requests for recognition of off-campus or honours courses must always include the course manual and should be submitted well before the course begins (six weeks before the course starts).
Please consult your Tutor before submitting a request. Processing may take up to six weeks.
Requests for the Board of Examiners should be sent to the Secretary of the Board of Examiners. Please read how to on the following page.
Please note that grade appeals should not be sent to the AUC Board of Examiners but to the COBEX ("College van Beroep voor de Examens"; Examination Appeals Board) of the VU. If you would like to submit a grade appeal (for an assessment or an entire course), you need to email cobex.bz@vu.nl to start the procedure. Please also note that the COBEX requires you to include your email address and to sign the grade appeal. You can read more about the grade appeal procedure on the VU website via the link below.
The BoE meets frequently, but a request can take up to six weeks to process. Please take this into account when submitting your request.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the Board consists of the following members:
