Learn to speak up against discrimination
All students are invited to join this workshop, tailor-made for AUC. It provides tools for students to speak up in difficult situations. Working with the organisation IVY, the Student Life Officers, and your fellow students, this workshop will give you the tools to become an active representative of your community.
Discrimination is everywhere and we all encounter it from time to time, whether it is directed at ourselves or others. The Speak Up! training is specifically designed for individuals who want to speak out against discrimination, but may still be searching for the most effective ways to do so. The training focuses on themes such as sexism, homophobia and racism, as well as lesser-known forms of discrimination such as ableism and transphobia.
Victims of discrimination and transgressive behavior should not be the ones who stand up for themselves. You will learn how to stand up for others in a positive and good way and what you achieve by doing so. Further, we'll discuss how victims of discrimination feel seen and supported and so that transgressive behavior and discrimination are addressed. Through discussion and examples, students will feel supported to have difficult conversations and help others.
