Learn to speak up against discrimination
You can now register for the second edition of the Speak Up! Workshop by the SLOs by using the link below.
Have you been in a situation where you wish you did more to help victims of transgressive behaviour? Maybe you want to call out a friend who said racist remarks but aren't sure how? With this workshop, you will gain the tools and practice to speak up when you notice discriminatory behaviour.
We all encounter transgressive remarks from time to time whether they are directed at ourselves or others. The Speak Up! training is specifically designed for bystanders who want to speak out against discrimination toward others but are unsure about the most effective ways to do so. The training focuses on themes such as sexism, homophobia and racism, as well as lesser-known forms of discrimination such as ableism.
Victims of discrimination and transgressive behaviour should not be the only ones standing up for themselves. Through this workshop, you will practice standing up for others in a positive way and experience what you achieve by doing so. Furthermore, we will discuss how victims of discrimination feel seen and supported when that transgressive behaviour is addressed. Through discussion and examples, you will feel supported to have difficult conversations and help others.
