All students are invited to join the Safer Space workshop, tailor-made for AUC. It focuses on giving students the tools to build a safe and accepting environment. Working with the IVY foundation, the Student Life Officers, and your fellow students, this workshop will give you the tools to become an active representative of your community. This Safer Space Workshop by the SLOs will take place on October 1st at 12:30 in room 1.07.
In this workshop, you will engage in open conversations on specific examples of situations of (sexual) misconduct, exclusion, and transgressive behavior. All students will have an opportunity to share their experiences and ideas, as well as hear from fellow students.
Wish you knew what to say, or how to say it, when someone crosses a line? This hands-on session offers practical conversation techniques to help you safely intervene, support victims, and challenge transgressive behavior. You'll also explore protocols, policies, and how you can take a leadership role in fostering a respectful culture on campus. Learn to be a confident ally, advocate for others, and help create a community where everyone feels safe.
Victims of discrimination and transgressive behavior should not be the only ones standing up for themselves. Through this workshop, you will practice standing up for others in a positive way and experience what you achieve by doing so. Furthermore, we will discuss how victims of discrimination feel seen and supported when that transgressive behavior is addressed. Through discussion and examples, you will feel supported to have difficult conversations and help others.
