Are you worried about a fellow student? Perhaps one of your neighbours is neglecting themselves or showing signs of mental health problems, such as not sleeping or not emerging from their room, or you think they might be heavily abusing drugs or suspect they are a victim of domestic violence. Or maybe they are causing problems through excessive noise, hoarding or foul smells by not cleaning up? If you are worried about a fellow student and think they may not be getting the help or support they need, but you are reluctant for whatever reason to contact an RA or Peer Supporter or your tutor or someone else at AUC or DUWO, then you can call in the help of the local authorities and health services through the "Meldpunt Zorg en Overlast".
The website is in Dutch, but you can contact them in English if you don't speak Dutch. You can call 020 253 5033 and leave a message if you call outside office hours, or use their online form or email to meldpunt@oost.amsterdam.nl. You will need to give your own details, as well as those of the person you are concerned about. Your report will be treated confidentially, but they cannot process anonymous reports.
The Anonymous Reporting Form for incidents of harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct allows students and other members of the AUC community to report, anonymously, incidents, threats and/or other serious matters of concern regarding discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct at AUC.
If you complete the Anonymous Reporting Form, it is sent directly and confidentially to the Student Life Officer of AUC and will be reviewed during working hours. You can remain completely anonymous if you wish, and the form cannot be traced back to you. If you are willing to identify yourself, please include your name and email address in the text of your report. This will allow the Student Life Officer to report back to you, and/or contact you for additional details and support. Your identity will not be shared with anyone else unless you give permission.
Please note that this is not an emergency reporting form. If you need immediate assistance or there is an imminent threat to life call 112 for the emergency services. If you witness or are the victim of sexual misconduct, discrimination or harassment, you may choose to report it to the police (112 in an emergency, 0900 8844 otherwise). You can also contact UvA Security on 020 525 2222 (their control room is staffed 24/7) if you observe a threatening or dangerous situation developing or feel threatened or unsafe anywhere on campus (including the AUC dorms).
