Health & liabality insurance

Make sure you have appropriate health insurance

All students are required to have appropriate health insurance for the duration of their stay in the Netherlands. The type of insurance you need depends on your nationality, whether you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), and whether you work alongside your studies.

We also strongly recommend taking out personal liability insurance, which covers damage or injury you accidentally cause to others. Liability insurance is mandatory for non-EEA students who require a residence permit through the UvA.
