All AUC students arrange their tuition fees through the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Each year, you need to re-enrol with the UvA and organise your tuition payment. You can set up or change your payment details up to 31 August before the start of the new academic year.

Arranging tuition fee payment

AUC does not arrange your university enrolment or process your tuition fees. These are handled centrally by the University of Amsterdam (UvA). You pay your tuition directly to the UvA, and this must be completed by 31 August.
Please follow the payment instructions you receive from the university’s central student administration.

Tuition fee levels

As a student in the Netherlands, you will pay an annual tuition fee. There are two different fees: the statutory fee and the institutional fee. The fee you pay largely depends on your nationality and your degree programme.

Statutory tuition fee
  • Who pays the statutory fee?

    In general, nationals of EU/EEA countries are eligible to pay the statutory tuition fee for their studies at AUC, provided that they have not previously obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Netherlands. You can find more specific details about which nationality and residence permits qualify (if all other legal requirements are met) to pay the statutory tuition fee on the University of Amsterdam website.

  • Statutory tuition fees 2026-2027

    The statutory tuition fee for Amsterdam University College for the academic year 2026-2027 is €5580.

Institutional tuition fee
  • Who pays the institutional fee?

    You are required to pay the institutional tuition fee if:

    • you are not a national of an EU or EEA Member State, Switzerland or Suriname;
    • after obtaining your Dutch Bachelor's degree, you enrol in a second Bachelor's programme;
    • after obtaining your Dutch Bachelor's or Master's degree, you enrol in a second degree programme, unless your second programme is in education or health care.

    The institutional fee is the same for full-time students and part-time students.

  • Institutional tuition fees for current students 2026-2027

    If you were enrolled at AUC on or before 1 September 2025 and pay the institutional tuition fee, you keep the tuition rate that applied in the year you started (your cohort fee). Your fee does not jump to a new, higher amount if a higher fee is set for later cohorts. Instead, it is adjusted each year for general wage and price developments. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the indexation rate is 3.62%.

    Note: the indexation only applies if you were continuously enrolled at AUC. If your enrolment is interrupted, you may be charged the new institutional tuition fee that applies in the year you start studying again.
