Are personal challenges affecting your studies? If you've already reached out to the Student Life Officers and your tutor, the UvA student counsellors may be able to provide additional support. They are trained to assist with various matters, from health to academic accommodations, to ensure you can continue your studies.

See your tutor or the Student Life Officer first

Are personal challenges affecting your studies? At AUC, your tutor and the SLOs are your first point of contact. You can contact your tutor for academic matters, and you can get in touch with the SLO about personal matters. Your tutor or the SLO is aware of your specific (academic) circumstances and can form an opinion on whether you need information or guidance from a student counsellor. In some cases, the UvA student counsellors may be able to provide additional support.

UvA student counsellors

The UvA student counsellors are available for a confidential conversations, advice and information on matters that are not directly related to the content of your degree programme, but which relate to your personal situation or your study progress. This can include:

    • Exceptional personal circumstances such as (chronic) illness, family circumstances, providing informal care to loved ones, pregnancy and parental responsibilities, etc.
    • Requesting a student loan and financial assistance
    • Studying with a disability, dyslexia or chronic illness
    • Requesting educational or exam-related facilities
    • Top-class sports and top-level cultural activities
    • Problems with departments or individuals at the UvA.
