The “GR” 

The GR refers to the Gemeenschappelijke Regeling (cooperation agreement, ex art. 8.1 WHW) through which AUC was established as an interuniversitair samenwerkingsinstituut (interuniversity cooperation institute) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). GR 2016 refers specifically to the most recent GR, signed in 2016, that established AUC as a cooperation of the Science Faculties of the UvA and VU.

AUC Rules and Regulations

Following completion of a review of the current AUC internal management and governance system (including the management team configuration) by the Dean of AUC in consultation with the participatory governance bodies (medezeggenschap) and the management team, a set of internal rules and regulations for AUC was formulated and agreed. The Rules and Regulations of Amsterdam University College were adopted by the AUC Board on 24 October 2022, and came into effect on 1 November 2022. 

Student representation

The AUC Student Council is the representative body for students at Amsterdam University College. The Student Council has monthly consultation meetings with the Dean of AUC.

The AUC Student Council nominates an advisory student member to the AUC Council of Deans (see the AUC Rules and Regulations above for more information on the Council of Deans and its role).

An AUC student joins the AUC Management Team in an advisory role as a Student Assessor. The Student Assessor represents a student perspective, but not a specific group of students. The Student Assessor is nominated after consultation with the AUC Student Council and AUCSA Board (but cannot be a member of either). The Student Assessor can also be the advisory student member of the Council of Deans.

AUC Management Team

The AUC Management Team consists of the Dean, the Director of Education, one of the Heads of Studies or the Senior Tutor (rotating on an annual basis), and one of the Heads of the administrative departments (rotating on an annual basis). A Student Assessor attends the MT meetings in an advisory role (see above).
