Anna's Tuin & Ruigte is a vibrant outdoor learning space in Amsterdam where nature, sustainability, and community meet. Spread across 1 hectare, it includes a vegetable garden, food forest, dye garden, bee & butterfly garden, and a stretch of wild nature – all freely accessible to the public.
For over 8 years, we've worked with a team of 50 dedicated volunteers to care for the land and share our knowledge. We host workshops, tours, and learning activities for local residents, schools and students.
Located right next to the Faculty of Science and Amsterdam University College, we collaborate closely with UvA and AUC. We offer space for classes, student research, and hands-on learning in ecology, sustainability, and urban agriculture.
Using permaculture principles, we create a living example of a regenerative urban ecosystem. Our wild area forms part of a larger green corridor - home to foxes, hedgehogs, bumblebees, swallowtails, and kingfishers and a rich site for ecological observation and study.

This data is valuable for researchers working in the areas of language variation and ethnology. The library, collections, and documentation may also be accessed by organizations who transmit knowledge in these fields (museums, media, knowledge institutes). Requests for information may be filed daily. The institute can be reached on business days for appointments to visit the library or specific information requests:
